In Romania, true research is carried out by physicists, by mathematicians, by
computer scientists, by certain breeds of other engineers, by lots of people--except
economists: this is pretty much the current
perception.
My objective isn't to change that view or the current state of research here,
but like many others I am taking the steps needed towards becoming a counter-example to
this widely-held view. Over time, I have taken part in a
number of research projects; this page lists some of the results from that work.

During the 2003/2004 academic year I took a Masters degree
in Social Policy called "IMPALLA". As part of that course, I looked at
several issues of interest to me, work which resulted in a number of papers. Of
those, I have selected three for broader dissemination (below). The first entry
is my dissertation paper.
- "Well-being
in the Workplace: the legal framework in relation to welfare regimes and
industrial relations. A comparative analysis across the EU-15 countries and
Norway"

dissertation paper where I use Qualitative Comparative Analysis to
model the presence of legislation (in some countries there is more, in some
less) dealing with well-being at work across the 16 countries studied
- "Information and
Communication Technologies Policymaking in Romania"
(PDF) looks at the
fundamental elements of policymaking within a theoretical framework and draws
some interesting conclusions
- "The Why's
and How's of Pension Reform"
(PDF)
takes a comprehensive view at pension reform in Europe (note: this version
contains no bibliographical references)
- "Love, Freedom and
Truth" (PDF)
is an attempt to reconcile a very personal
take on life with an academic framework offered by leading sociologists
